About Avery Drew...where do I even begin? I knew from the moment she arrived on September 20, 2004 that she would change my world - little did I know she would also change so many others! Avery Drew loved people, loved animals and loved helping others. She was smart, kind, considerate, thoughtful, and so full of life. She always greeted you with a smile & most times a hug, too! Her hugs weren't delicate - they were overpowering just like her personality! Teachers at Greensville Elementary School knew to brace themselves when they saw Avery Drew coming because she had been known to knock people down with her hugs from time to time!
Avery Drew loved pink, chocolate, arts & crafts - especially those involving duct tape, electronics of any kind, Disney World, and loved to travel. She was a planner and asked lots of questions. She loved her family and friends and protected her little sister, Addison. She loved animals of all kinds - not just your typical cats and dogs, but had pet guinea pigs, fish, turtles, hermit crabs and even lizards! Avery Drew loved to laugh - loudly, loved spending time at Lake Gaston and enjoyed snow skiing. She left us too soon with a wish list of places to visit and things to do.
On January 27, 2013 Avery Drew died as the result of a snow sledding accident. Avery Drew was smiling, laughing, and singing "Let It Snow" as we snow sledded with friends and family. I will never understand why such a precious child was taken so soon, but I will always keep a piece of her tucked away safely in my heart!
I will live my life in her memory each and every day.
Forever and always
her loving mama,
Kim Swenson
